2,250-Ton Chiller Plant Upgrade, Confidential Location
AKF provided pre-testing for a retro-commissioning project of a 2,250-ton chiller plant. AKF coordinated all initial requirements for the pre-testing including scheduling, existing system impact, metering locations, meter types and manpower requirements for the Facilities Management Group. The tests identified a number a weaknesses both in performance and energy usage that needed to be corrected. After the tests were completed, AKF provided recommendations for a temporary plant operating mode to get better performance in the interim period while the upgrade was taking place.
AKF designed all of the plant modifications to correct the deficiencies that were found during testing and assisted during the construction in determining existing system impact, scheduling requirements and manpower requirements. A detailed commissioning scope and plan was developed and included as part of the project requirements.
Once the upgrade to the facility was completed, AKF provided all of the required commissioning instruction and direction for the project contractors and facilities staff to complete commissioning for the new plant. AKF developed and coordinated the sequence for the building operators, identified the required manual operational items, the BMS' control items and the sequence in which they needed to be initiated. Full start-up and commissioning of the systems, including operator training and MOP were developed. AKF also monitored all points, checked system operation and verified correct flows and controls. As desired by the facility operating personnel, giving the system the ability to change through its multiple modes of operation smoothly was clearly demonstrated by AKF.
